Is There Hope For Healing for a Broken Heart? Part 1

The answer is Yes, because Jesus came to heal the broken hearted.

Jesus said in Luke 4:18-19, Jesus quotes Isaiah, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Prov 15:13 “A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.” (KJV)

The Lord came to do all of the following: heal the brokenhearted, and bring deliverance to the captive and heal the sick. The heart is the center, not only of spiritual activity, but also of all the operations of human life. “Heart” and “soul” are often used interchangeably. A wounded spirit or Broken Heart is one that is hurting. A person with a wounded spirit lives in inner misery that focuses regularly on his emotional pain and cannot receive the cleansing.

Why the Broken Heart?

  • Unforgiveness: Unforgiveness and bitterness is the glue that holds the pain in your heart. Forgiveness is one of the major steps to bring healing and peace to a person.
  • Feeling Unloved and Neglected: When a parent or husband neglects, abandons physically or emotionally, then that person feels unloved.

With a broken heart, there is a breach there is fear that blocks you from experiencing the love of God, love yourself or love others properly without the fear of rejection. Then, Satan can have the marrow of your bones.

If Satan can get you to violate the principal of teaching of the law and the prophets as in Matthew 22:37-40, Mark 12:29-31, your marrow is his to bring about disease.

37 Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Our need for love is the most basic need we all need, all our other needs are satisfied when we are loved. When this basic need is unmet, it forms a strong foundation for deep wounded spirit. In other words, traumatic events in our lives will affect us more severely, when we have unmet needs. Our ability to cope with stressful situations are then damaged and distorted.

Satan wants to rob you from relationships with God, yourself and others. Satan is the executor of the curse. If he can get you to listen to his lies, you are a prisoner of negative thoughts by Satan.

Symptoms of a Broken Heart

If the spirit is damaged, wounded or corrupted in any way, and our ability to relate normally to others, to ourselves and to God is hampered. Also the abilitly to trust others or God is broken.

For a small minority of the wounded the damage is only slight; they are able to get on with their lives with the hurt causing only a minimum of irritation or inconvenience. Many more of the wounded are more affected and limp through life. They survive a relatively normal life but fail to realize their full potential in their

  • friendships,
  • in their marriages,
  • in their day-to-day relationships and
  • their full potential that God has for them.

Then there are those with extreme or severe damage to their spirit, these people are greatly incapacitated; dysfunctional with all manner of emotional, spiritual, physical, mental, relational and financially. These people are forced to crawl or need to be carried through life.  Have you met those who seem to struggle greatly?
