Fellowship with Unbelievers
Unequally Yoked Christians
Part of the sanctification process is being separate from the World and not spending time with unbelievers or dating unbelievers unequally yoked christians. Otherwise, you are setting yourself up for failure.
“The righteous should choose his friends carefully, For the way of the wicked leads them astray.” Proverbs 12:26″He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.” Proverbs 13:20
Unequally Yoked with Unbelievers
The phrase “unequally yoked together” is the translation of just one Greek word, heterozugeo, which is a compound word that means, “to yoke up differently; to associate discordantly; unequally yoke together.” It is used but this one time in the Bible.
The word “yoke” means a coupling as when two oxen are coupled or yoked together by a pulling beam to do work such as plowing a field or pulling a wagon.
Unequally yoked christians: Some things in the world about us just don’t mix. Oil and water, for example. Their unique and individual molecular structures and properties are such that they simply do not meld naturally into one.
“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.” 2 Corinthians 6:14-17 For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? be not unequally yoked with unbelievers because they will cause you to stumble. For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
‘I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.’Therefore ‘Come out from among them and be separate,’ says the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 6:14-17
“… in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
“…all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned…” 2 Timothy 3:1-5, 12-14
Make no Friendship With an Angry Man
“Make no friendship with an angry man, and with a furious man do not go,Lest you learn his ways and set a snare for your soul.” Proverb 22:24-25
“Do not be deceived: ‘Evil company corrupts good habits.’ Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.” 1 Corinthians 15:33-34
Be Not Unequally Yoked
“If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing…. From such withdraw yourself.” 1 Timothy 6:3, 5 – be not unequally yoked marrages.
“My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.” Proverbs 1:10
“Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of evil. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn away from it and pass on.” Proverbs 4:14-15
“…our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.They have mouths, but they do not speak;Eyes they have, but they do not see;They have ears, but they do not hear…Those who make them are like them;So is everyone who trusts in them.” Psalm 115:3-8

“A man shall eat well by the fruit of his mouth, But the soul of the unfaithful feeds on violence.” Proverbs 13:2
“Forsake foolishness and live, and go in the way of understanding.” Proverbs 9:6
“Alas, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity,A brood of evildoers, children who are corrupters!They have forsaken the Lord, They have provoked to anger the Holy One of Israel….” Isaiah 1:4
“…who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.” Romans 1:32
“Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you.Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you.Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.Do not turn to the right or the left; remove your foot from evil.” Proverbs 4:24-27
