What Is On Your Mind! Renewing your Mind

Sanctification Process of the Mind

Casting Down Vain Imaginations

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Casting Down Imaginations

COMMENTS: The thoughts in your mind are what leads you to do what you do. What is in your mind? Do you have anger and hate? Do you have bad habits? What things have you accumulated over the years of your lifetime?

If you are like everyone else then you have some things in your mind that are bad things or bad thoughts or bad habits or rebellion (carnal christian) – this could be inherited, or formed in you through hurts, wrong beliefs, etc. They are things that cause you to not be able to be obedient to God’s Word. Some things hinder you from being the best person you can be. Some things you don’t even know you have. So what can you do?

Renewing Your Mind

It’s time for housecleaning! Time to get rid of the cobwebs! Pull out your Bible and begin filling your head with something good and pure. What is in the Bible has power and can override what you have stored in your head. Plug yourself in to the source of power. . . pray!  Read the Word.  It is only through the reading of His Word that transforms our mind.  What does transform mean?  It means renewing your mind of wrong thought patterns by replacing it with truth, God’s Word that becomes part of you.  It is pulling down or tearing down strongholds that are opposite of God’s thinking.

Meditating on God’s Word

How to do do this?  It is by reading God’s word, meditating on His Word, memorizing His Word until it becomes part of your life.  It is truth planted in your heart that changes you forever.  We read the logos word but how many of you, when you read, it is like the Lord unveils the word and it brings life and truth.  The logos word becomes rhema.  Life and fruit into your heart.  God’s Word is Powerful to Renew your mind.

Capture Every Thought

Open your mind and heart to the One who loves you more than anything! Ask that God reveal everything that needs to be purged. This is the first step of bringing your thoughts into captivity. Don’t get discouraged if you have difficulties. You won’t be able to get rid of everything. They will continue to return now and then. God knows how difficult it is for us. He will have patience with you as long as you are trying. Just stay in the Word and stay connected in prayer. Never give up.

The Good news is the Lord looks at the heart of the person.  Is this person trying to please God even though he/she might stumble into old sin (old man) issues.  Is that person willing to repent and try again?

That is the grace of the Lord most high is the condition of the heart.  You see David was not perfect and fell into gross sin but he understood the grace and mercy of the father and quickly repented to be right.  Repentance refreshes us.  Not only that, God does not remember our sin and so be refreshed that you have a new slate.  That is grace.  Then not ever giving up but running to perfection.  You see, when we are in the spirit, we are righteous in Him.  When we are in the flesh doing fleshing things or saying fleshly things, then we are in darkness.  It is determining to walk and be and live in the spirit and dying to self (the old man) daily (the key) to please God through Jesus Christ.  It is not doing it out of fear but living in relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit – becoming the spiritual man.

Scripture:  Matthew 25:14-30       (see also Luke 19:12-27)

14 “For it will be as when a man going on a journey called his servants and
entrusted to them his property; 15 to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. 16 He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them; and he made five talents more. 17 So also, he who had the two talents made two talents more.
18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master’s money. 19 Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, `Master, you delivered to me five talents; here I  have made five talents more.’ 21 His master said to him, `Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the  joy of your master.’ 22 And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, `Master, you delivered to me two talents; here I have made two talents more.’ 23 His master said to him, `Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the  joy of your master.’ 24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, `Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and  gathering where you did not winnow; 25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.’ 26 But his master answered him, `You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sowed, and gather where I have not  winnowed? 27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents. 29 For to every one who has will more be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken  away. 30 And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness;
there men will weep and gnash their teeth.’

Read this passage and see if you can see it:  Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and  gathering where you did not winnow; 25 so I was afraid

This servant did not know the love of the father and served in fear instead of relationship.  One can bury seeds in the ground and expect them to become productive because they obey natural laws.

Do you earnestly seek to serve God with the gifts, talents, and graces he has given to you?  or do you live in fear not knowing the heart of the Lord.
