What’s In Your Heart Today!

Did you know we are held accountable for every idle word we utter? Matthew 12:37

“For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”

“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” (NKJV) Matthew 12:35-37

The Power of Your Words

Jesus says that our words reveal the type of heart we have. The good heart of a Christian will bring forth good words and an evil heart speaks forth evil – Blessings and curses.

Again, Jesus speaking, says what is in the heart comes out of the heart — good or evil. It is not what we eat or drink that defiles a man, it is what comes out of his mouth that brings life or death.  There is power in your words that come out of your mouth.

“But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. These are the things which defile the man . . .” (NASB) Matthew 15:18-20

Since we are held responsible for every word we speak, I think we had better listen very carefully to what we are saying, not just to our brethren, but also to ourselves.  We can curse ourselves as well as bless ourselves with our words.  There is power in our words to bring about life or death to others or ourselves.

So after looking at these scriptures our words have much power to bring either life or death.

Words Have Power

Matthew 21:18-22

Jesus, early in the morning, being hungry saw the fig tree by the road.  He went up to the fig tree and it had no fruit.  Jesus, then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.

When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked.

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Your Words Have Power

Did you know your words can determine your future?  Are you full of doubt and unbelief or full of faith?  Doubt and unbelief kills your faith and how can you walk in the plans of God has preordained before the foundations of the earth if you are negative and your speech is negative.

He tell us in Jeremiah 29:11 KJV “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. “

Words of Blessings

God made man to be a wise steward not only over the earth but over his own mouth as well. If we can speak the words of God they will produce victory in our life and in the lives of others as well.

Power

Man was created in the likeness of God and given the right to choose his own words, speak them, and there by declare his eternal destiny. The Bible says in Proverbs 18:21 “the tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit”.

Death

An example of how words can bring forth death and destruction can be found in Mark 11:13-14,20,21:

13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.

14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst (spoke negative to) is withered away.
Tongue

Power In The Tongue

With the tongue we can praise our Lord and Father, and with it we can curse men, who have been made in the image of God. The in the book of James 3 : KJV Bible says that nobody can tame the tongue;

8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. but, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can be saved from the destructive power of our own words.
Spirit

Sword of the Spirit

The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:17 to arm ourselves with “the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Romans 8:7 says that the natural mind alone cannot know God, for God speaks to you through your spirit and your spirit speaks to your mind.”

Speak Life

We need to watch what we say discipline our tongues to speak in line with the Word. We as Christians must determine in our hearts to confess the Word of God over every situation, regardless of what the situation looks like.   Live in faith Hebrews 11:1

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  Faith is those things not seen.  Our circumstance is only temporary but the things we cannot see is eternal.  God is working out our situation even though we cannot see it.  So praise the Lord for what you cannot see by having faith He is working it out for you.  This builds your faith to believe for the impossible.

It is easy when we are under the pressures of trials and tributions to speak negative or against God’s Word because (what you say is what you get.) only speak faith-filled words, the Bible tells us in I Corinthians 1:4-5 that Jesus will then fill them with His anointing.

God’s Word will have little or no effect over our lives until we put His Word in our mouths and speak them in faith. John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Jesus

Jesus said to his disciples: “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” John 6:63.”God appointed, anointed, and then sent Jesus to be High Priest over our confessions (words of faith).”

James

James says that the tongue is itself set on fire by hell. And James says, that believers will give account for how they exercise that power. James speaks about the power of the tongue. “The Bible also says in James 1:19 to “let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: James says that “if anyone is never at fault in what he says, then he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check”.

Fire

The book of Proverbs reminds us that when we gossip we add wood to the fire. For it says in Proverbs 26:20, “Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down. If the heart is filled with hatred, envy, and bitterness, then Satan is the one who is lighting the fire.”

Uplifting Words

But if our tongues are set on fire by the Holy Spirit, then it is a mighty tool in service of the Lord.

Ephesians 4:29-30 says: “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”

What Comes Out of the Mouth

However, it is our responsibility to speak forth the Word of God and claim the promises God has spoken to us in His Word. Put His Word in your mouth and speak them in faith. The Bible says in Matthew 12:34-37: “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”

Proverbs 13:3 says: “He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:”

Faith Will MOve Mountains

Hebrews 10:23: “Let us hold fast the profession (confession) of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.” Faith will move mountains when and only when it is released with the words of your mouth. We lay hold of the Word by receiving it by faith, and then confessing it.

Speak To The Mountain

Just listen to what the Bible says in Mark 11:23-24: “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

The Mind of Christ

The Bible speaks of thoughts, imaginations, and strongholds.
The devil and your five senses operate through your mind while God operates through your spirit. The Bible tells us in II Corinthians 10:5 that we are to “Cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

Romans 8:7 says that the natural mind alone cannot know God, for God speaks to you through your spirit and your spirit speaks to your mind. Whether or not your mind can utilize these thoughts is depends on whether or not one’s mind is renewed by the Word of God.

While we have the Word of God coming into our hearts, the devil is putting thoughts into our minds against the knowledge of God. If you allow the devil to occupy your mind with his thoughts for you, then he is able to build up a stronghold against the plan that God has for you.

We need to be good stewards and sow good thoughts in order to reap the full harvest of what God intends for us to have according to His Word. Some Christians are praying for God to change what they think about, but it’s up to them to change their own thinking by reading the Word of God and avoiding harmful worldly influences.

Thoughts can come from one of three places: from your five senses, the devil, or from the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us in Colossians 3:16 to: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Opposite of Faith – Fear

We must not let frustration, fear, or anger rule our hearts, but rather let the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Proverbs 12:25 says that “Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad. “If a person continues to dwell on the thought, it turns into an imagination or image.” If a person imagines too long, the imagination turns into a stronghold and starts controlling his life. It is not a sin to be tempted but it is a sin to yield to the temptation.
